Building the Future of Football Together: Dynamo and KJSC

At Dynamo Melbourne FC, we've always believed football is about more than what happens on the pitch. It's about creating opportunities, bringing people together, and building a stronger community through sport. Two years on from formalising our partnership with Kensington Junior Soccer Club (KJSC), that belief has become something real: a genuine football pathway for local players, and a stronger community for Kensington and the wider City of Melbourne.

A natural partnership

Since 2018, Dynamo has grown with a clear purpose: to build an inclusive club where people from all backgrounds, cultures and abilities can enjoy the game while improving their physical and mental wellbeing.

KJSC has grown alongside us. What began as two girls' teams has become one of the area's most successful grassroots clubs. A thriving junior community of more than 450 young players across 30 teams.

As KJSC has grown, so has the need to give young footballers somewhere to go once junior football ends. The introduction of under 18 teams made that need impossible to ignore: a clear, accessible pathway into senior competition.

Our partnership makes that possible: Supporting players through their entire football journey, from their first kick as kids to senior community football and beyond.

A genuine pathway

One of the biggest challenges in community football is keeping young players in the game as they become adults. Too often, talented, passionate footballers drift away simply because there's no clear next step.

By connecting KJSC's junior program with Dynamo's senior men's and women's teams, we've built a pathway that lets players keep developing in an environment they already know, familiar, supportive, and community-focused.

Players can keep wearing the colours of their local community while chasing their own version of football ambition, whether that's social participation, competitive football, or something higher. And just as importantly, the friendships and family connections built in junior football don't have to end when junior football does.

Strengthening our community

Dynamo and KJSC share the same belief: football can drive real social change. Inclusion, diversity and community participation sit at the centre of everything both clubs do: welcoming players of every cultural background, gender, age and ability, and making sure everyone feels they belong.

Together, we've been able to extend that impact further, sharing knowledge, resources and expertise, and keeping football affordable for local families at a time when cost is front of mind for so many households. Community football should stay open to everyone, and this partnership helps make sure it does.

Home at JJ Holland Park

JJ Holland Park

Our shared home at JJ Holland Park has been the foundation for all of this. The City's only synthetic football pitch, with ongoing upgrades, making it one of Melbourne's most important community football hubs.

Having junior and senior football train and compete on the same ground has done more than share a facility, it's strengthened the connection between the two, and given families more reasons to be part of club life at every stage.

More than football

For Dynamo, success has never been measured by results alone. We're ambitious, and we compete to win. But our broader mission is using football to drive positive outcomes for our community, on and off the pitch.

Whether it's community events, social football, wellbeing initiatives, or partnerships like this one, we believe the game can help people connect, get healthier, and build relationships that last. Our partnership with KJSC brings that vision to life across every stage of a player's journey.
