At Dynamo Melbourne FC, we have always believed that football is about much more than what happens on the pitch. It is about creating opportunities, bringing people together, and building stronger communities through sport.
That is why we are incredibly proud to formalise our partnership with Kensington Junior Soccer Club (KJSC), marking an exciting new chapter for football in Kensington and the wider City of Melbourne.
Recently featured in the Flemington Kensington News, this partnership represents far more than a collaboration between two football clubs. It is a shared commitment to creating a complete football pathway for local players while strengthening the community that both organisations proudly call home.
A Natural Partnership
Since its establishment in 2018, Dynamo Melbourne FC has grown with a clear purpose: to create an inclusive football club where people from all backgrounds, cultures and abilities can enjoy the game while improving their physical and mental wellbeing.
Likewise, Kensington Junior Soccer Club has become one of the area's most successful grassroots clubs. What began with just two girls' teams has evolved into a thriving junior football community of more than 450 young players across 30 teams.
As KJSC continues to grow, so does the need to provide young footballers with opportunities beyond junior football. The introduction of Under 18 teams has highlighted the importance of creating a clear and accessible pathway into senior competition.
Our partnership makes that possible.
Together, we can now support players throughout their entire football journey—from their very first kick as children through to senior community football and beyond.
Creating a Genuine Football Pathway
One of the greatest challenges facing community football is retaining young players as they transition into adulthood. Too often, talented and passionate footballers leave the game simply because they cannot find the right environment or opportunity to continue playing.
By bringing together KJSC's outstanding junior program with Dynamo Melbourne FC's senior men's and women's teams, we are creating a seamless pathway that allows players to continue developing within a familiar, supportive and community-focused environment.
This partnership ensures that young players can continue wearing the colours of their local community while pursuing their football ambitions, regardless of whether their goals are social participation, competitive football or higher levels of performance.
More importantly, it allows friendships, family connections and community relationships built during childhood to continue long into adulthood.
Strengthening Our Community
Both clubs share the same belief that football has the power to create meaningful social change.
Our organisations have always placed inclusion, diversity and community participation at the centre of everything we do. We welcome players from all cultural backgrounds, genders, ages and abilities, creating an environment where everyone feels they belong.
By working together, we can expand that impact even further.
The partnership allows us to share knowledge, resources and expertise while continuing to deliver affordable football opportunities for local families. At a time when many households face increasing financial pressures, keeping community sport accessible remains one of our highest priorities.
Together, Dynamo Melbourne FC and KJSC are committed to ensuring that football continues to be a sport that welcomes everyone.
Making the Most of JJ Holland Park
Our shared home at JJ Holland Park provides the ideal foundation for this exciting future.
With the City's only synthetic football pitch and ongoing infrastructure improvements, including the planned lighting upgrades, the precinct is becoming one of Melbourne's most important community football hubs.
These facilities allow players of all ages and abilities to train and compete in the same location, strengthening the sense of connection between junior and senior football while creating more opportunities for families to participate in club life.
As Melbourne's inner-city population continues to grow, having a central, accessible and welcoming football environment becomes increasingly important.
Together, our clubs are well positioned to meet that need.
More Than Football
For Dynamo Melbourne FC, success has never been measured solely by results on the field.
While we remain ambitious and continue striving for excellence in competition, our broader mission is to use football as a vehicle for positive community outcomes.
Whether through community events, social football programs, wellbeing initiatives or partnerships with organisations that share our values, we believe the game can help people connect, improve their health and build lasting relationships.
Our collaboration with KJSC strengthens this vision by allowing us to support players and families across every stage of life, creating opportunities that extend well beyond the ninety minutes played each weekend.
Looking Ahead
This partnership represents the beginning of an exciting journey.
By combining the strengths of Kensington Junior Soccer Club and Dynamo Melbourne FC, we are building a stronger football community that provides opportunities for participation, development and lifelong connection.
Together, we are creating an environment where young players can dream bigger, families can stay connected, and our community can continue growing through the power of football.
We would like to thank Kensington Junior Soccer Club, the City of Melbourne, Football Victoria, our volunteers, coaches, players and supporters for helping make this vision a reality.
The future of football in Kensington is brighter than ever—and we are proud to build it together.
